10/10/10

According to this news source from the UK, couples have been lining up for months to snag this Sunday's date for their weddings.  I guess there's a certain romantic appeal to having such an unusual anniversary date (and probably a greater likelihood that it will ever be forgotten).

My parents married on October 10, in 1959.  This year's triple-ten date would have marked their fifty-first anniversary--not exactly a neat, clean, round number.   Then again, life isn't always neat and clean.  Mom and Dad marked thirty-three years together before a brain tumor invaded, stealing life from my father.  And married life wasn't always white lace and promises for my folks as they tried to make their way and raise a family in this broken, fallen world.  But they were given grace.

It makes me happy thinking about all those starry-eyed, romantic couples starting their lives together on Mom and Dad's anniversary.  May they start out well; may they find grace to cheer them along the way.

Amen to that. Nice tribute to your mom and dad, as well.

So true that every marriage isn't always white lace and promises. But aren't they beautiful when they survive the fallen world we live in? Love this.

My daughter, Maggie, just returned home from the wedding reception of a high school chum and her new husband. Blessings to them both as they embark on their new lives together!

Today's my anniversary, 10/10/10 heehee! Of course I wasn't thinking about the last ten in '81. We just wanted pretty fall leaves in our wedding pics.

Oh shooters! I just wrote you a long, poetic comment about the beautiful day and how romantic blah blah and I forgot to enter my special code that tells you I'm human! The computer ate it! BOOOOO!
